The Parts Puller plays a key support role, ensuring the efficient flow of parts and supplies within the business. The Parts Puller will remove parts from salvage vehicles for resale, assist customers with loading of purchased parts, sort, lift, and place parts on racks, shelves or in bins, and helping with inventory management.
Core Responsibilities:
· Safely and efficiently locate, remove, and stage parts from vehicles in the yard according to work orders, sales requests, and inventory systems.
· Take clear photos during both the picking and quality control (QC) stages using the yard phone to document part condition and ensure quality accuracy.
· Inspect all parts for quality, completeness, and functionality before staging or shipment.
· Pull parts in a timely and efficient manner to meet production goals and customer deadlines.
· Operate heavy machinery and yard equipment (including forklifts, loaders, and other vehicles) safely and responsibly to move vehicles, scrap, or large parts as needed.
· Swap out vehicles for dismantlers, ensuring a steady workflow and safe, organized work area for the dismantling team.
· Immediately communicate any damage to parts—especially if caused during removal—to the Yard Manager for documentation and corrective action.
· Retrieve and stage parts from warehouse stock as needed, preparing them for shipment or delivery.
· Load and unload delivery trucks with customer orders and internal transfers.
· Empty scrap hoppers in compliance with safety and environmental standards.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment throughout the yard, warehouse, and office spaces.
· Assist with general maintenance and cleaning of the yard, warehouse, and office areas as assigned.
· Tag, label, and document all pulled parts accurately within the inventory system.
· Work cooperatively with other team members and departments to achieve safety, quality, and efficiency goals.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience working in the automotive salvage industry is strongly preferred
- Ability to operate a loader, bobcat, and forklift
- Ability to clean and maintain sanitation process of warehouse & yard
- Ability to load sold parts/drivetrains into customer's vehicles
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work outdoors in every weather condition
- Knowledge of basic tools and mechanics
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic
- High school diploma or equivalent
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent required
- Auto Parts/Salvage: 1 year (Required)
- Automotive Mechanics: 1 year (Required)
- Forklift, loader, bobcat experience: 1 year (Required)
