The City of Kentwood Parks and Recreation Department is looking for responsible, energetic, and customer-focused Athletics Site Monitors to support our adult recreational sports leagues.If you enjoy being around the action, solving problems on the fly, and helping ensure a fun and safe environment, this role is a great way to be part of a team that builds community through recreation.
What You’ll Do
As an Athletics Site Monitor, you’ll help ensure leagues run smoothly and safely. You will:
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for adult sports leagues
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and positive atmosphere for all participants
- Address questions, resolve conflicts, and communicate concerns to program coordinators
- Enforce program rules and guidelines fairly and consistently
- Monitor play to ensure safety and proper sportsmanship
- Respond to injuries or incidents using established procedures
- Arrive early to prepare facilities and equipment before participants arrive
- Set up and break down sports equipment for games and events
- Monitor facility conditions, reporting any safety or maintenance issues
- Record and submit game scores, attendance, and incident reports
- Support smooth event operations from start to finish
Every shift, you’ll help create an enjoyable, safe, and well-organized environment where players can compete, have fun, and stay active.
About You
You’re dependable, confident, and able to stay calm when things get busy. You enjoy working with people, staying active, and ensuring programs run smoothly.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of experience in sports, recreation, or event supervision
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- Valid driver’s license
You should be comfortable enforcing rules, communicating clearly, and working independently while representing the Parks & Recreation Department with professionalism.For more details about responsibilities and qualifications, view the full job description here.

- Pay Rate: $18 per hour
