Material Area Supervisor - Automotive Manufacturing
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
We are seeking a results-driven Material Area Supervisor to lead material handling and logistics operations in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring efficient material flow, inventory accuracy, and production support while driving continuous improvement using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) principles.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop hourly material handling teams to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale targets
Oversee material receiving, storage, line delivery, and inventory control
Ensure on-time material flow to support production schedules
Coordinate daily operations and resolve logistics and workflow issues
Support and implement WCM and lean manufacturing initiatives
Build strong relationships with union employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams
Partner with management on staffing, training, and performance management
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Proven leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics environments
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team development skills
Ability to work 1st and 2nd shifts, including rotation as needed
Preferred Experience
Background in a unionized environment
Experience with lean manufacturing or WCM methodologies
Schedule
1st Shift: 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM
2nd Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:30 PM
