Summary
Michigan Technological University, a nationally recognized leader in engineering, computing, and science education and research, invites applications for the Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Geospatial Engineering. The position will be in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering. Applicants with the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and accomplishments commensurate with a higher rank will also be considered for an appointment at the rank of Visiting Associate Teaching Professor.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
1. Teaching Geospatial Engineering courses, with a typical load is three courses per semester.
2. Assist in curriculum assessment and development.
3. Contribute to departmental service needs through departmental committees or other service responsibilities.
4. Integrate safety practices into daily activities and apply continuous improvement strategies to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
The applicant must have earned at least a BS degree in either geospatial, surveying, geomatics, engineering or a closely related discipline and be licensed as a professional surveyor in any state.
Required Experience
Demonstrated teaching experience as the instructor of record and/or teaching assistant in one or more of the following: fundamentals of surveying, land surveying, geospatial computations, terrestrial laser scanning, land subdivision design, engineering/route surveying, legal principles, boundary principles, Computer Aided Drafting, GIS and GNSS. At least 3 years of practical industry experience in any combination of Surveying, GIS and GNSS.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Demonstrated effective and engaging teaching experience at a university level of one or more the following: land surveying, geospatial computations, engineering/route surveying, Adjustments, Geodesy, Computer Aided Drafting, GIS and GNSS. Additional licenses and/or certifications such as Professional Engineer, Geographic Information Systems Professional, Certified Photogrammetrist or Certified Hydrographer. A master's level degree or currently enrolled as a master's student working toward a degree in Geospatial/Geomatics/Surveying engineering or a closely related discipline (such as Civil engineering).
Demonstrated experience of at least three years in leadership and/or mentoring roles in civil, environmental, and geospatial engineering-related professional organizations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
* Experience with current industry software
* Fluently communicate in English
* Geospatial programming skills
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
* Demonstrate a passion for teaching.
* Demonstrate a strong interest in undergraduate education.
* Versatility and experience in teaching foundational as well as more advanced undergraduate courses.
* Ability to develop new course topics in Geospatial Engineering.
Work Environment and/or Physical Demands
The work environment is that of a typical office and/or classroom setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
