Roskam has a full-time Summer 2026 People Safety internship opportunity for individuals currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related field; recent graduates may applywith a related concentration and interest in a career in Safety. The summer internships will be on-site at our facilities in Grand Rapids.
This Safety Internship will support the People Safety team in ensuring a safe work environment by assisting with safety programs, compliance initiatives, training, and audits. This hands-on role provides valuable experience in workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation within a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze current Lock Out Tag Out processes making recommendations for alternatives.
Assist in updating LOTO training materials
Design and implement ergonomic safety team including structure, communication, and meeting cadence.
Required and Preferred Qualifications:
Required:
Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Knowledge of occupational safety regulations and standards, particularly those relevant to the food manufacturing industry, such as OSHA, FDA, and USDA.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with employees at all levels.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred:
Previous experience in food manufacturing
Previous experience with safety management software
