Copper Shores Community Health Foundation seeks a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team in Hancock, Michigan. In this role, you will help keep our financial operations running smoothly and accurately—from general ledger work and reconciliations to payroll, grant billing, reporting, and audit support. Your work will directly support the Foundation’s mission through strong financial stewardship, sound accounting practices, and collaboration across the organization.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $60,000 – $75,000 annual starting salary based on experience.

- Full-time, Monday–Friday position generally working 8:30am – 4:30pm.
WHAT YOU’LL DO.
- Maintain, reconcile and update general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
- Process invoices and ensure timely payments of bills.
- Track and manage incoming donations, grants, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and submit grant billing and reimbursement requests per contract requirements.
- Process payroll and related payroll entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist in preparing the annual budget and monitor compliance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with internal and external audits; maintain thorough documentation.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather and analyze financial data.
- Help develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support our organizational decisions.
- Participate in trainings and meetings to continue your professional growth.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 2 or more year’s of accounting experience.
- CPA certification with experience in non-profit accounting, a bonus.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and meet deadlines.
