Starting Salary Range: $55.06 - $55.06
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Properly test and maintain electric meters, build and wire secondary and primary metering equipment (e.g. meter enclosures, cabinets and pole-mounted clusters), conduct power quality investigations, troubleshoot metering systems, and operate various metering software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Test watt-hour meters, conduct power quality investigations.

Conduct instrument calibrations and repairs, translate computer power data.

Conduct power factor studies.

Turn On and Turn Off Customer’s Electric Services up to 400A and 480V.

Operate personal computers to carry out job functions.

Use of various electrical measuring equipment.

Must be able to safely operate BWL vehicle.

Work with single and three phase voltages ranging from 120V to 13,200V.

Troubleshoot Ethernet, phone and cellular communication issues.

Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
-
Calculate Watthours, Varhours, Power Factor and Customer Load.

Interacts with BWL customers.

Required to wear personal protective equipment and follow BWL Safety Manual.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Must be a journey worker in the following areas: Primary Metering Specialist, Electric Meter Repairer, or an Electrician with five years of experience working in a commercial or industrial setting.

Must have experience with the following:

Watt-hour Meters (Revenue, Plant, and/or Substation),
-
Reading, Testing, Troubleshooting and Interpreting Meter Data Current and Voltage Instrument Transformers,
-
Single and Three phase voltages from ranging from 120V to 13,200V.

Personal computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
-
Word, Excel and Outlook.
-
Must have excellent customer service skills.
-
Experience with AMI Technology Preferred.
-
Customer service and residential electrician experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
-
Must wear safety, high-voltage protective equipment and FR rated clothing.

Conduct power factor studies.

Wire Transformer Rated meter enclosures and associated metering cabinets.

Rotating on-call and overtime work as necessitated by projects.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Role requires intermittent sitting, standing, bending, climbing, and twisting, as well as occasional squatting and kneeling. Required to lift, hold, and carry equipment weighing up to 70 lbs. Occasionally works with arms and hands above shoulder level, such as while removing meters from sockets for investigation. Must be able to use a computer, drive a vehicle, and perform mechanical tasks such as handling wrenches and nut drivers. The position also demands the ability to climb ladders and stairs, occasionally operate from aerial lifts, and work at heights of up to ten stories. Must have clear vision with color recognition. Must be able to localize sounds and hear conversations in noisy industrial environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work locations include office environment, power plants, customer sites, and substations. Temperature and humidity extremes. Dust and noise levels can be high. Must work in inclement weather. Occasional exposure to confined spaces.
