The College is looking for candidates to teach CA 111 Restaurant Sanitation and Safety starting in Fall 2026 at the Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) downtown campus. The ideal candidate should have a passion for teaching and a focus on student success to provide a quality learning experience.

Adjunct faculty needs are assessed each semester, and classes are offered at various times from Monday to Saturday in different formats, such as hybrid, online, and virtual. Applicants will need to adhere to the course syllabus, use the designated textbook, and meet the scheduled class times. Responsibilities include clearly stating course outcomes, fostering a stimulating classroom environment, maintaining accurate student records, meeting grade reporting deadlines, accommodating students with disabilities, and respecting students' privacy as per federal law.

The qualifications required for this position include a Bachelor's degree (with a preferred Master's degree), environmental health or county sanitarian experience, and at least 4000 hours of relevant work. Candidates must also hold ServSafe Manager Sanitation Certification and preferably have teaching experience at a community college, as well as experience with diverse adult learners.

Key skills needed include expertise in the subject, strong communication and organizational abilities, effective teamwork with a diverse student population, and proficiency with relevant instructional technology and learning management systems. The role demands flexibility in work hours, with some tasks occurring outside of class times, and the ability to handle various physical and mental demands.
