Summary
Michigan Technological University and the Department of Applied Computing invite applications for an instructional track faculty position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor. This is a one-year fixed term appointment, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Teach courses in electrical circuits, electronics, electronic projects, applied mathematics, and control systems. All courses have a lab component and faculty are expected to participate in both the lectures and labs. The typical course load for this position is 3.5 courses per semester.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures
MS in electrical or computer engineering, electrical or computer engineering technology, or a closely related field in engineering or engineering technology, from an accredited institution.
Required Experience
Evidence of effective teaching at the secondary or postsecondary level or in industrial training programs.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
* PhD in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field, from an accredited institution.
* Professional certifications in electronics, electrical machinery, industrial control, automation, or related areas.
* Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, including laboratory teaching.
* Two years of relevant industrial experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
* Technical expertise in electrical circuits, electronics, and control systems.
* Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and student success.
* Evidence of strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
* Evidence of hands-on technical skills in an electronics laboratory setting.
* Evidence of engineering software skills related to job performance.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
* Knowledge of industrial control and automation
* Demonstrated success in, or potential future contributions to, working with people with a wide variety of backgrounds and viewpoints.
Work Environment and/or Physical Demands
The work environment includes that of a typical office and/or classroom setting and that of an electronics laboratory with ordinary 60 Hz single phase line voltages. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
