Join our team! The City of Kentwood is seeking a Bus Drivers to safely transport local seniors on day trips while helping create a welcoming, enjoyable, and well-organized travel experience.
This position plays an important role in ensuring participants feel comfortable, supported, and engaged throughout each outing.

What You’ll Do
As a Bus Driver, you will provide safe, reliable transportation while delivering excellent customer service to program participants.
Responsibilities include:

Safely operating a 14-passenger bus

Conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections
-
Assisting passengers with boarding and exiting, including mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers

Securing wheelchairs and ensuring passengers are properly seated
-
Maintaining attendance and trip documentation

Communicating clearly about trip details and expectations

Coordinating with trip leaders and destination staff
-
Responding calmly and appropriately to emergencies
-
Following all transportation policies and safety regulations
This role combines safe driving with meaningful community interaction.

What We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate:

Demonstrates safe driving skills and experience

Has experience providing customer service to seniors, youth, or individuals with disabilities

Holds a valid Michigan driver’s license with chauffeur endorsement

Is able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within six months of employment

Communicates clearly and professionally
-
Exercises sound judgment and remains calm in traffic or emergency situations
