Duties: Lead the overall wireless test and certification compliance strategy for new product development and globalization projects. Drive best-in-market wireless test performance of connected ME systems and devices. Grow and adapt the wireless technology and test roadmap to align with business ambition and future technology integration. Support globalization of connected devices by developing standards and test method mastery for wireless applications. Ensure state-of-the-art interpretation of global wireless compliance standards for medical and nonmedical markets to enable globalization portfolio growth. Inspire trust, build followership, and be sought-out wireless compliance with subject matter. Lead compliance programs for wireless test and certification requirements from internationally recognized standards and agencies. Translate complex requirements, standards, and regulations with a high level of accuracy. Work on wireless test methodology to define and characterize wireless performance in development. Work closely with software, mechanical, and electrical engineering disciplines to manage and sustain radio module life cycles and connected system obsolescence mgmt. Influence new product development teams when defining design verification and validation test requirements to ensure design inputs and wireless test and certification requirements are met. Evaluate predicate products for relevant compliance and wireless performance issues that may impact new product development projects. Analyze and define wireless radio module performance and compliance attributes for product and process through risk analysis techniques. Oversight and review of final design verification and validation wireless reports by providing concise conclusions and direction. Design, tune, and optimize antennas across multiple frequency bands, including UWB, 5G, Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz / 6 GHz), Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth. Manage third party partnerships for test capability, global market access, and report/document accuracy with global certification bodies.
Position requires 10% domestic travel.
Requirements: Must have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field and six (6) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related occupation. Position also requires experience in the following: managing third-party certification labs; wireless technologies and industry standards, including 5G, Wi-Fi (802.11n/ac/ax/be), and Bluetooth; leading system-level compliance evaluations for 5G-WiFi and BT enabled devices, focusing on protocol stack validation, beamforming performance; experience applying 3GPP specifications to assess RF behavior, troubleshoot interference issues, and optimize antenna configurations; conducting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification testing, ensuring alignment with IEEE standards and resolving coexistence challenges in dense RF environments; device regulatory certification across wireless and safety standards, including certification planning, identifying applicable standards (FCC, CE, IC, MIC, RED, ETSI, ANSI, IEEE, 3GPP), determining test requirements by device type and frequency band, and conducting compliance testing (e.g., FCC Part 15, ETSI EN 300 328, EN 301 893, ANSI C63.27), including TIER 69 risk assessments for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G devices; RF conducted and radiated measurements, including evaluation of conducted output power (peak and average), occupied bandwidth, spurious emissions, return loss, VSWR, total radiated power (TRP), total isotropic sensitivity (TIS), antenna gain, radiated spurious emissions, and specific absorption rate (SAR); designing, tuning and optimizing antennas for UWB,5G, WiFi and Bluetooth; experience ensuring wireless compliance and performance testing, including SAR, coexistence, emission and link budget validation; driving global wireless certification strategy, ensuring compliance with FCC/CE/ETSI and other regulatory bodies by monitoring evolving standards, performing gap assessments, and implementing necessary design/testing changes.
