Design the components drivers touch every day-for one of the most recognizable name brands in the automotive industry. Advantage Technical is recruiting an HLM Design and Release Engineer to support a major automotive OEM known for innovation, quality, and cutting-edge vehicle platforms.
In this role, you'll lead the design, development, validation, release, and implementation of handles, locks, and mechanisms (HLM) across vehicle closures including hoods, frunks, side doors, tailgates, liftgates, and decklids. You'll influence products from concept through production while driving design improvements that enhance quality and optimize cost and weight throughout the product lifecycle.
You will collaborate cross-functionally and lead suppliers to ensure compliance with SDS, Design Rules, and regulatory requirements, while managing key attributes such as package feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship, crash safety, and manufacturing assembly requirements at the plant level.
Key Responsibilities
CAD design and evaluation using CATIA, Teamcenter (TCE/3DX)
Mechanical and electromechanical system development, including CAE, calculations, drawings, mockups, and DFMEA/PFMEA
Supplier technical leadership and PPAP support
Statistical analysis, SPC, and structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why)
Clear technical communication using PowerPoint and MS Office
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2+ years of automotive design, development, or launch experience (internships/coursework accepted)
CAD capability and familiarity with CAE tools
Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel domestically/internationally
