TITLE: Sr. Superintendent
LOCATION: Detroit, MI
The Sr. Superintendent is responsible for leading day-to-day field operations to ensure all construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project scope and quality standards. This role oversees subcontractor performance, trade coordination, material and equipment deliveries, and site logistics from project start-up through closeout.
Working closely with subcontractors, project management, and owner representatives, the Superintendent establishes clear expectations early, maintains productivity, and resolves field issues efficiently. The position also supports preconstruction efforts, including subcontractor selection, scheduling input, and post-bid coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary on-site safety leader, enforcing OSHA and MIOSHA standards and maintaining daily activity logs
- Plan, coordinate, and sequence subcontractor work to meet project schedule and quality expectations
- Participate in the development and execution of project schedules, logistics plans, and work plans
- Lead subcontractor kickoff, pre-installation, safety, and weekly coordination meetings
- Monitor field progress, identify potential delays, implement workarounds, and report schedule status
- Ensure permitting, inspections, testing, and documentation are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain trade coordination documentation and resolve conflicts impacting workflow
- Manage rolling punch lists and support efficient closeout activities
- Coordinate field-related change orders with subcontractors and suppliers
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety practices, and building codes
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Timberscan, MS Project, and Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of trade contracts and construction documentation
- Experience supporting design and preconstruction phases
- Ability to manage documentation, reporting, and multiple priorities efficiently
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience
- 15 years of field leadership experience as a Superintendent
- MIOSHA 30 certification
- CPR and First Aid certification
