The Holistic Mitigation Specialist Intern is a bachelor’s or master’s level social work student tasked with serving as an integral part of a defense team of diverse professionals, provides expertise in the area of social work and operates as an advocate for clients as part of the defense team. The Holistic Mitigation Specialist intern maintains a caseload of clients for which he/she will serve as an advocate on the defense team by identifying client needs aside from the legal issues, assisting clients with accessing resources, and assisting the attorneys with the legal aspect by providing mitigating information to provide an overall holistic approach to client representation within the Public Defender Office.
