General Definition of Work
Commission on Aging is currently seeking an on-call Driver II, with availability Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, no weekend requirements. Up to 19 hours per week could be scheduled but not guaranteed.
This position transports senior passengers from their residence to various community facilities, medical appointments, recreational activities, and essential shopping trips.
Essential Functions
• Operates wheelchair lift mechanism. Assists passengers in and out of vehicle and with personal items such as coats, hats, mobility aides, etc. Assists passengers to door of destination.
• Maintains records of gasoline used, mileage, passenger usage, etc. Prepares reports as required.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance checks and daily/weekly safety checks. Takes vehicle for fuel fill-ups and necessary oil changes, repairs, maintenance, etc. Cleans vehicle for safety and comfort of passengers and oversees the general well-being of elderly clients who use the service.
• Transports mail and equipment and supplies from one location to another.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Some experience driving a bus, van or other commercial vehicle.
Special Requirements:
• Valid Chauffer’s license in the State of Michigan.
• Must have acceptable driving record per Saginaw County policy.
• Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within six (6) months of hire.
