General Definition of Work
In addition to the PHN I, the PHN II acts as Team Leader for specific clinic or program.
Essential Functions
In addition to the Public Health Nurse I functions, the PHN II also:

Coordinates day-to-day operations of clinic/program by providing directions, making assignments, delegating tasks, and monitoring program activities. May lead program staff meetings. May develop, implement and evaluate clinic/program procedures and protocols. Ensures quality assurance of care and resolves issues and concerns. Communicates program successes and improvements to supervisor.

Biologic Immunization Program: Acts as Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program liaison and performs compliance and education visits with associated reporting and follow-up.

Tracks, enters, and analyzes program/statistical data. Assists in preparation of various reports.
Minimum Qualifications
The Public Health Nurse II position includes all PHN I minimum qualifications, which are listed below in full, plus the additional PHN II education requirement.
PHN I Minimum Qualifications (All Required):
Education:
Associate’s degree in nursing.
Experience:
Moderate (1+ years) experience in community or public health nursing.
Special Requirements:

Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan upon hire.

Valid driver’s license in the State of Michigan upon hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.

Emergency Preparedness Training within 6 months of hire.

Obtain HIV certification within 6 months of hire (specific to assignment).
PHN II Additional Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
