Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer III is a highly experienced role that is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment in one or more facilities. Oversees and optimizes electromechanical plating for new and existing Parker products. Identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence. Develops advanced manufacturing techniques, systems and methods to optimize efficiency, quality, cost, and safety. May be responsible for developing and deploying large capital projects.
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct or indirect reports.
This position works closely with production supervision, and personnel.
Responsibilities:
Process owner of electroplating - Interprets chemical analysis to adjust plating bath chemistry to meet quality and production standards. Troubleshoots plating defects caused by chemical imbalance, plating setup and or incoming part condition. Develops and implements plating process instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provides technical support and training to operators and team members on plating techniques and safety protocols.
Process owner of ECM and Final Hone Machining - Monitor process performance to ensure quality and production standards. Train and guide operators and technicians on process, parameters, equipment usage, gauging and troubleshooting.
Process Improvement - Develops and implements process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. Leads teams in large scope process improvement initiatives.
Assist with plant fabrication/machining processes - Serves as backup support for fabrication processes within the plant to maintain smooth production flow.
Regulatory Compliance - Ensures complex processes and procedures comply with company and aerospace regulations. Applies frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Interacts with mechanics to solve daily manufacturing issues and dispositions discrepancy reports
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field with 5-8 years of experience
Knowledge of fundamental metallurgical concepts; metal properties, microstructure, and phase transformations.
Knowledge of electrochemistry & plating metallurgy; electrochemical principles governing metal deposition, control of the deposit structure, adhesion mechanisms, and the effects of bath chemistry.
Knowledge of hazardous chemicals used in plating including handling, storage and disposal regulations.
Familiarity with analytical techniques required for plating bath maintenance and understanding chemical replenishment strategies.
Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of sophisticated scope and complexity
Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
