Copper Country Mental Health Services is hiring a part-time Youth Peer Support Specialist in Houghton, Michigan.
If you are a young adult who has personally received mental health services as a youth and want to use that experience to help others, this could be a meaningful opportunity to make a real difference.
In this position you will support youth with serious emotional disturbances who are receiving services in the behavioral health system. This is more than a job. It is a chance to connect with young people in a way that only someone with lived experience can—by building trust, offering encouragement, and helping them see that progress is possible.
WHAT WE OFFER.
- $18.12 – $20.25 per hour.
- PLUS $2,000 sign-on bonus.

- Part-time schedule of up to 20 hours per week and will be based on client needs.
WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Build supportive, encouraging relationships with youth receiving behavioral health services.
- Meet with youth individually and in group settings.
- Help youth work toward personal goals in ways that feel real, relatable, and achievable.
- Use your own lived experience in a thoughtful, professional way to offer hope and connection.
- Support treatment goals through shared activities, mentoring, and peer-based encouragement.
- Work as a key member of the treatment team to help youth stay engaged and moving forward.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE ELIGIBLE.
- Must be 18 through 26 years old.
- Lived experience receiving behavioral health support as a youth and the ability to use that experience to support others.
- Have a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Be able to pass all required background checks.
