Job Summary:
The primary duties of the Community Relations Coordinator include working with the Community Relations Manager to create and maintain district-wide social media, district websites, video and other communication tools. Technical competency in photography, and graphic design to assist in developing printed communication tools. Assists in promoting community partnership programs, to engage the larger Portage Community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages website content, social media and other communication tools to support District needs.
- Works with the Community Relations Manager to create District publications and internal and external communications, District Extra, and other publications and communications to promote the school district.
- Assists with all crisis communications as directed.
- Works as part of the Community Relations, Facilities team to promote and execute community program partnerships and summer camp programs.
- Serves as backup to the Community Relations Administrative Assistant to assist with customer service for the Administration Building.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.
- Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism or a related field.
- 1 to 5 years of experience in communication/website/social media management.
- Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- Mathematical skills including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Skilled with standard office procedures.
- Proficient computer and document skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to project a favorable and welcoming impression of the district.
