Job Title: Painter Prep Technician
Reports to: Body Shop Manager
Department: Body Shop
Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting daily operations in the body shop by performing taping, sanding, grinding, and touch-up work on new and repaired trucks, work trailers, and vans.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
Support daily functions including, but not limited to:
Thoroughly disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles as needed
Prepare and sand body areas to be painted; cover bumpers, windows, and trim
Use power sanders and grinders
Janitorial work beyond keeping work area uncluttered and swept
Work a 10-hour shift Monday through Friday, and a 4 hour shift two Saturdays a month
Other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization
Required Skills/Abilities:
General comprehension of, and experience in, the truck build up process
General understanding of truck components
General mechanical aptitude
Ability to work alone with minimal or no supervision
Ability to use hand tools
Follow all company safety rules and policies and operate equipment in a safe manner
Ability to effectively perform job functions with input from manager and customers
Great attitude and ability to work with others
Good communication skills, written and verbal
Knowledge of computers and various software programs is desirable
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Current regular driver’s license to move our vehicles
Auto body / collision repair experience
Forklift operator certification
Overhead crane operator certification
