Job Summary: Provides administrative and operational support to the Transportation Supervisor and assists with daily transportation office functions, including routing, dispatch, trip coordination, payroll, recordkeeping, and general office support. Ensures efficient communication and safe transportation services and must be able to obtain and maintain a CDL with school bus endorsements to drive a bus when needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; post-secondary education preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Previous experience in a transportation office preferred
- Experience with Traversa Routing software, and Skyward (student management software) preferred
- Ability to manage many job responsibilities with frequent interruptions
- Possess or shall obtain within 90 days, a commercial driver’s license with school bus endorsements
- Proficient with use of technology and computers including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Excel, and Access.
- Excellent driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and submit to random drug and alcohol testing per FMCSA rules.
- Experience with problem solving and appropriately addressing urgent matters over the telephone
- Willingness to participate in professional development
Essential Job Duties:
- Assist in development and maintenance of all transportation routes and maps using computer software.
- Assisting Supervisor on investigations using bus video/audio
- Bus dispatching services and operation of a two-way radio
- Manage and maintain a variety of operational records, student records, employee documents, payroll records, absence reports, invoices and financial documents
- Process transportation trip requests and assist with the assignment of drivers and substitutes to routes and trips
- Perform all office functions and duties including answering phones, mail distribution, filing, correspondence with staff and community, generation of reports, purchasing and inventory
- Drive school bus when needed.
- Perform other duties in support of the transportation department and school district.
- Assisting drivers with student conduct records, and parent communications.
- Ability to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking
- The position requires occasional lifting of supplies
- Work may take place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of some travel to other schools or field trip locations
Work Year: 260 days annually
Schedule: 40 hours per week
(Typical hours are 8:30-5:30 p.m. daily)
Salary: $41,800 - $46,500 annually
