| Summary of Position: | Position provides custodial supervisory services for Facilities Management for custodial operations. Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned custodial personnel to maintain and provide quality custodial services for campus facilities. Recommend and establish programs, procedures, performance standards, planning, and budgeting for the custodial department. Manage sanitation and recycling accounts for the Big Rapids campus. May be assigned to work any shift, including nights and weekends. The anticipated shift will be M-F, 8:00 - 5:00 pm. | |

| Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: | Supervisory experience within an educational institution, hospital, K-12 institutions, or commercial accounts. | |
| Essential Duties/Responsibilities: | Supervise, train, schedule, evaluate and assign work to custodial employees including student workers.
Recommend, establish and implement programs, policies, and procedures impacting custodial operations.
Assist in budget preparation and control.
Contact and deal with suppliers, vendors, and contractors as necessary. Test new products and make recommendations.
Maintain positive relations, address concerns, and administer and ensure compliance with work rules and the union contract.
Manage the purchase of all custodial materials, supplies, and equipment.
Instruct employees in the use of new products and equipment.
Make rounds of assigned buildings to inspect custodial work and correct problems.
Report necessary repairs and structural problems to the appropriate department.
Assign jobs and work order requests to plan material, labor, and time requirements and provide cost estimates when required.
Oversee duties associated with the certified pool operator and equipment repair.
Maintain records and prepare various reports as required.
Inspect buildings and facilities for cleanliness at frequent intervals.
Ensure that all governing rules, regulations and policies are followed.
Attend meetings, communicate effectively with departments and key stakeholders across campus both verbally and in writing as required.
Coordinate with other department supervisors for the expeditious completion of work.
Schedule, review and approve employee working hours and vacations, sick time requests, maintain overtime lists, and maintain electronic timekeeping systems for reporting purposes.
Maintain the safety and security of custodial storage areas and equipment.
Attend seminars and technical writing to enhance knowledge and abilities.
Must be able to work variable hours to include possible day, evening and/or weekend shifts.
Report directly to the Manager of Custodial Services.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.
Supervise and schedule custodial workload to assigned custodial staff.
Manage the acquisition of supplies by custodial staff utilizing a computerized maintenance management software system.
