Rate of Pay: $140,000.00 to $171,000.00 per Year
Duties: Lead and mentor others in the design and development of electrical components, sub-systems, and/or systems for medical devices. Apply and mentor others on advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts. Conduct, design, and select advanced prototyping and testing including component placement, circuit trace routing rules, and overseeing board layout from feasibility studies to board tape-out. Lead and guide in correction of complex product design issues, including the change management and deviation processes, risk analysis, failure modes evaluation, and root cause analysis. Conduct technology exploration and influence application in the business. Translate user needs to design inputs/ specifications and produce complex system level designs independently. Develop invention disclosures, patents or trade secrets. Independently make design tradeoff decisions while designing multiple components of the system. Contribute to competitive and market strategy by demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the market, customer dynamics and competitive offerings. Apply strong understanding of clinical procedures to enhance product development. Contribute to and execute customer-facing activities like voice of customer and customer centric design in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Mentor others as a business unit expert on the usage of industry standards, including design requirements and test strategies per applicable regulations. Lead others to create and refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file and creates more progressive technical content. Contribute to R&D procedures and development of industry standards working closely with cross-functional business units. Work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success, both leading and influencing other leaders on the team. Identify and lead the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required. Execute and lead segments of complex product development to advance projects through the design /development/launch process. Contribute to complex product development through release and lead one technical area of expertise. Mentor, develop and inspire others in current and future roles.
May telecommute–in office 3 days/week and remote 2 days/week
10-15% domestic travel required
Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related field (will accept foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience designing analog, digital and mixed-signal printed circuit boards used in new product development projects. Position requires 6 years of experience in the following: Experience with new product development launches and new product development cycle, including developing plans for testing, simulation, debug, signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles; experience creating and managing a Bill-of-Materials, including component placement and circuit trace routing rules, owning board layout from feasibility studies to board tape-out, working with suppliers, identifying DFM issues, and resolving DFM issues; experience applying design expertise to define and improve company procedures, processes, systems, and product specifications; experience leading the development of protocols for design verification testing, including SME review; experience designing necessary fixturing and test setups to support testing; and, experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robustness of project deliverables and overall project success.
