Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of Dean, Health Sciences, responsible for providing quality instruction, continuous program improvement, and academic support services. Provides instruction, support services, coordination, planning, outreach, professional contributions, and scheduling of clinical rotations for Cardiac Sonography program. Collaborates with program director to implement and maintain currency of courses and program curriculum. Contributes professionally to mission and strategic goals of college and Academic Services Unit. Creates an innovative and engaging learning environment through continuous program improvement activities. Interacts with Registrar, Financial Aid, and other college personnel to promote and achieve student success. May supervise student employees or department staff.
Essential Functions:
1. Designs and delivers effective instruction as assigned through in-person, online, and hybrid formats, using outlines approved by College Curriculum Council. 2. Advises students within academic discipline (or closely related field) and holds posted office hours, as required by faculty contract. 3. With departmental colleagues, designs/selects and implements appropriate assessment of student learning at course and program level. 4. Submits grades and other required paperwork within prescribed timelines. 5. Provide direct clinical and technical coordination of college-sponsored cardiac sonography program. 6. Serve as a liaison between clinical affiliates and College. 7. Ensure compliance with accrediting guidelines and standards with JRCDMS and CAAHEP . 8. Conducts prescribed interval/category/skill evaluations utilizing CAAHEP -developed Competency-based Clinical Education Program. 9. Assigns student clinical and intra-clinical rotations. Documents student’s clinical attendance. Documents clinical performance, conducting interval and final conferences with individual students for each clinical rotation. 10. Provides student guidance as it applies to clinical practicum. 11. Provides indirect technical supervision of sonography students. 12. Orients clinical instructors to Cardiac Sonography program philosophy and mission and their responsibility for student supervision. Facilitates student evaluation of clinical instructors and clinical facilities. 13. Coordinates satisfactory accomplishment of academic program objectives and compliance with departmental/hospital policies and procedures. 14. Schedules student evaluations of lab performance and schedules models for scanning labs. 15. Ensures that properly credentialed clinical instructors sign off on all clinical competencies. 16. Contributes to College governance by serving on instructional committees, taskforces, or other college workgroups. Attends departmental meetings. Productively contributes to decision making. Stay current on trends in teaching methodologies. 17. Participates in graduation exercise. 18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidate must be credentialed by American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS ) in cardiac specialty (RDCS ) or credentialing through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI ) (RCS ). Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent of at least 2 years of full-time experience as imaging technologist required. Classroom teaching experience preferred. Must possess working knowledge of subject matter and maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities. Good organizational skills and strong communication skills are required. Must maintain highest ethical standards in relationships with constituencies, research activities, and business dealings.
