Powerhouse Operator – Trinity Health Oakland Hospital
Location: Pontiac, MI
Trinity Health Oakland Hospital is seeking a skilled Powerhouse Operator to join our Facilities team. In this role, you will install, inspect, repair, and maintain machinery, mechanical systems, hospital furnishings, and structures that support safe and reliable operations across the campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and repair all powerhouse equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the hospital.
- Ensure proper temperature control in all buildings using a variety of building automation systems and occasional manual adjustments.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance using the work order system to document time, work performed, and materials used.
- Assemble and install hospital equipment and furnishings.
- Support efficient utility and energy usage across facilities.
- Maintain clean, organized mechanical rooms and work areas.
- Respond promptly to emergency call-ins, including during off-hours.
- Follow Trinity Health standards, policies, safety protocols, and values in all work.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all hospital personnel, vendors, and community partners.
What You Bring
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Licensure / Certification
- Current High Pressure Boiler Operator License.
- Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
Skills & Aptitudes
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and O&M manuals.
- Strong math, reading, and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of powerhouse experience required.
Working Conditions
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
- Must have good vision and hearing.
- Exposure to high noise levels, mechanical equipment, and occasional undesirable environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May require extended hours during emergencies.
