Lathe Operator
Position Summary
Smith Brothers Tool Company is seeking a skilled and reliable Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Lathe Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and/or CNC lathes to produce precision parts that meet quality and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers.
- Select appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials for each job.
- Monitor machine operation to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Perform in-process inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Make minor machine adjustments and offsets as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies.
- Document production data and report any issues to supervision.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments.
- Basic knowledge of machining practices, tooling, and materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
