Position Summary
The Quality Manager at Moran Iron Works is responsible for leading the Quality Department and ensuring compliance with welding, fabrication, and manufacturing standards while living and reinforcing Moran Iron Work’s Core Values. Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System, SOPs & Core Values
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Quality Management System.
• Create, document, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data and audits.
• Ensure quality systems reflect MIW’s long-term craftsmanship and reliability.
Welding & Fabrication Quality
• Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, ASME, and project requirements.
• Verify adherence to SOPs, WPSs, and inspection procedures.
• Promote accountability and quality ownership on the shop floor.
Inspection, Data & Digital Systems
• Lead inspection programs using computerized ITPs.
• Maintain electronic quality records and traceability.
• Use quality metrics for data-driven decisions.
Audits, Compliance & Accountability
• Conduct internal audits and support external audits.
• Implement corrective actions and ensure accountability.
Nonconformance & Continuous Improvement
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Reduce defects, rework, and inefficiencies.
Leadership, Training & Culture
• Train staff in SOPs and quality systems.
• Reinforce a culture of quality, accountability, and pride in work.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years quality management experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, AISC, ASME.
• Proven SOP development and enforcement.
• Advanced computer skills including Excel, QMS, ERP.
Preferred Certifications
• CWI
• Lead Auditor
• Certified Quality Manager
• ASQ Certifications
