Position: Engineering Manager, Sensors

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lead, design, and develop sensor systems for the assigned products. Provide technical leadership and ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and regulations. Develop sensor design concepts and 3D (Dimensional) CAD (Computer Animated Design) models. Apply advanced engineering concepts to functional product definition designs, including mechanical stress, thermal properties, and physical properties data. Define requirements and interfaces for equipment/fixtures, for both Manufacturing and Customer. Oversee detailed sensor designs and product validation. Analyze problems or deficiencies and develop solutions to resolve them. Conduct experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate product designs. Ensure effective communication with cross-functional teams. Collaborate with domestic and international teams and suppliers to achieve project goals. Coordinate and manage required DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing / Design for Assembly) updates and issue resolution. Create and manage project plans and timelines to ensure successful project delivery. Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed. Estimate budgets and time scopes for each project. Mentor and grow a team of direct reports both technically and professionally. Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in Automotive Sensor or ECU Development.
Must have five 5 years of experience in the following:
- Core Engineering Analysis including Tolerance Stack-ups, Simulation and Drawing Creation; and
- Mechanical Design or Electrical Design within the Automotive Industry leveraging Standards and Design Process to lead other Engineers.
Must have four 4 years of experience in the following:
- Creating and Utilizing Design Failure Mode Effects and Analysis (DFMEA) to feedback into design.
Must have three 3 years of experience in the following:
- Project Plan Creation and Tracking; and
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Review leading to robust quality design inputs.
Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day per week.
International travel required up to 10% and domestic travel required up to 10%.
