Job Summary: Directs the students in the lunchroom in an orderly, organized manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities/Cafeteria Supervisor:
- Organize students as they enter the cafeteria into orderly lines for purchase of food
- Maintain order within the cafeteria by observing the rules and being consistent with discipline
- Supervise students as they return their trays and dispose of debris
- Clean tables between lunch periods and dispose of debris
- Maintain visibility by circulating among the tables and help children who need assistance; resolve minor problems that might arise
- Encourage acceptable behavior by demonstrating these traits when speaking with children
- Inform teacher and/or principal of any serious problems arising within the cafeteria
- Immediately notify principal in the event of a discipline problem that is considered to be serious
- Supervise dismissal of students from lunchroom
- Assist food staff as necessary
- Direct the students to and from the playground in an orderly and organized manner
- Organize activities on the playground
- Periodically inspect the safety of equipment used by children on the playground and report any safety concerns
- Respond immediately to any safety complaints made by students
- Consistently enforce rules established by the principal
- Send students to the health room/office on matters requiring immediate attention
- Follow through with communication with principal or teacher on students who are disruptive or do not follow established rules for the playground
- Notify principal of serious accidents on the playground
- Maintain a pleasant and enthusiastic attitude while on the job
- Move about the play area; move quickly to students who may be posing a risk to themselves or to others
- Assist food staff as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Agility and mobility to move about the hard and soft play areas on the playground.
- Ability to restrain students who become physically aggressive.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
