Our partner in Litchfield, MI is looking to add a Brake Press Operator to their team!
Shift: 1st
Pay: $17 and up based on experience
Scope of Position
Maintain, operate and run prototypes/production on the presses. Complete appropriate paperwork as required.
Essential Functions
Press Operating Responsibilities
- Ensure that parts are identified and do not get mixed
- Complete required quality checks
- Quality checks may vary and checks every 5 to 50 pcs may be required depending on the complexity of the part
- If a checked part is bad notify the supervisor
- If the part needs to be re-setup, another buy-off is required
- If a gauge or part of the setup moves during production notify the supervisor
- If the part needs to be re-setup, another buy-off is required
- If you run a bad part, set it aside in the scrap bin
- If you run several bad parts stop and inform the supervisor
- Try to get replacement parts to avoid additional setups
- DO NOT run parts with rust, tape or paint
Job Set-up – Required Quality Checks
- Review the part number routing sheet and any set-up or tooling instructions
- Verify that material and/or blanks being used are the right material and/or blanks for the operation
- Pull required tooling & set-up operations in the presses
- Ensure that an approved buy-off is received and that the buy off sheet is signed
- Leave a sample Buy Off piece for the operators to use as a visual aid
- Instruct operators on the proper way to run parts
- Watch the operator to ensure they understand process
- Provide operator with instructions on quality checks as required
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Train new operators on pinch points and where not to place hands
- Set up jobs with minimum clearance
- Talk to operators about the importance of paying attention and being safe
End of Run Responsibilities
- End of run responsibilities include but are not limited too
- Complete all job paperwork
- Job travelers
- Any setup paperwork or notes
- Tear down the operation
- Label all gauges and tools before leaving the press area
- Tools and gauges should be identified with a part number
- Tools and gauges should be put away on shelf in designated spot
- Ensure parts are properly identified and easily identifiable for shipping or the next operation
- Ensure that an accurate count is obtained
- Dispose of scrap as required.
- Don’t lean pallets or scrap parts on machines
- Sweep floors and wipe down machine (if) all other duties are done.
- End of day follow proper shut down procedures. Clean work area.
