About Rivian
Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role Summary
This is a unique, high-impact role supporting Rivian's critical Electrical Distribution System (EDS) Engineering team. As an EDS Engineering Operations App Developer, you will be the driving force behind a customized application suite designed to significantly boost the productivity and collaboration of the 30-engineer EDS team and potentially scale across Rivian.
The ultimate goal is to improve the team's operational efficiency and reduce time spent on non-value-added tasks.
The Mission: Design and Launch an AI Executive Assistant
At its core, this role involves designing and launching an AI Executive Assistant for our DREs through Agentic and Generative applications. This bespoke tool will also provide management with real-time insights to gauge engineer workload and need for support.
What You Will Deliver
You will develop bespoke, web-based applications to drive significant productivity gains across four main areas:
Design
Change Management
Costing
Supplier Integration
Each area may require multiple connected applications. Key high-level goals for the resulting engineering operations application suite include:
Live Status Tool: A single application that shows the live status of all design, validation, and delivery concerns, with the ability to easily track all issues over time, including forecasted changes and releases.
Simplified Supplier Communication: A tool to simplify communication with harness suppliers, easily delivering accurate Engineering Change Request (ECR) documentation.
Core Objectives
Develop AI Tools: Create agentic and generative applications for continuous improvement in EDS engineering performance.
System Integration: Collaborate with management to integrate best practices and solutions with Rivian's enterprise OS applications (e.g., Campfire, Basecamp, Fusion). Also integrate with Siemens Capital Suite to create cross platform application tools, such as design change management.
Roadmap Establishment: Understand EDS team operations and help establish a roadmap for developing productivity applications to support continuous optimization of the engineering release process.
EDS Scope & Accountability
The EDS team is a specialized automotive engineering discipline responsible for designing and delivering the complex backbone of Rivian's Zonal/Electrical Architecture-composed of miles of wiring, approximately 8,000 components, and roughly 30 wire harness assemblies. The team is accountable for both power and signal circuits, including:
Low/Mid-Voltage Wire Harness Assemblies: Full ownership, including 3D geometry design, integration, and producing 2D wire harness drawings.
Component & System Design: Creating new component designs, supplier selection, on-vehicle trials, and system-level design validation.
Process Management: Coordinating changes with suppliers and other departments, cost estimations, and supplier management.
What Will Make You Successful
We are seeking an end-to-end owner who is highly independent, proactive, and curious.
End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of all project aspects: resources, timelines, and milestones.
Creativity & Curiosity: Bring a creative and curious mindset, moving beyond just following directions.
Independence: Thrive on getting things accomplished without direct supervision and team structure (scrappy mentality).
Proactivity: Actively solicit feedback from users, management, and cross-functional teams to improve applications, and know when to seek help when blocked.
Continuous Improvement Mindset: Previous experience successfully applying continuous improvement principles is key.
Systemic Thinking: Consider high-level goals and ensure all project parts are tied together to prevent building standalone apps.
Responsibilities
Build, test, and release complex, mission-critical full-stack applications for internal and external-facing software, serving as a technical lead.
Design and implement frontend code and algorithms using ReactJS and Typescript.
Design and implement backend code using AWS Services, Python, and PostgreSQL databases.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Technical Product Management, UI/UX) to define application features.
Use automation to reduce roadblocks and achieve deliverables.
Ensure good software architecture practices are followed, actively contribute to code and design reviews, and perform unit testing to deliver high-quality... For full info follow application link.
