Summary of Position
The Senior Instructional Designer plays a critical role in designing high-impact learning experiences that drive performance, build capability, and align with organizational goals. This role combines deep instructional design expertise with strategic consulting, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence learning outcomes across the business. The Senior Instructional Designer partners closely with subject matter experts and leaders to create scalable solutions and also mentors junior team members to elevate the overall quality of learning design within the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Design
- Apply advanced instructional design and adult learning principles to create engaging learning solutions.
- Conduct needs assessments and performance gap analyses.
- Design scalable, blended learning programs and produce detailed design documents.
- Consult with stakeholders to ensure learning solutions align with business needs.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior instructional designers and support onboarding of new team members.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative learning design culture.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with business units to shape learning strategies and ensure measurable performance outcomes.
- Contribute to L&D design standards, workflows, and continuous improvement efforts.
Communication & Influence
- Translate complex information into clear, compelling learning materials.
- Build trusted partnerships and influence stakeholders to support program adoption.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or related field (Master’s preferred).
· 3+ years instructional design experience; 5+ years in a corporate/professional environment.
· Strong knowledge of ADDIE, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and Kirkpatrick models.
· Experience with curriculum development, project management, and performance consulting.
· Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
· Experience working in complex or matrixed environments.
Technical Skills
· LMS administration and SCORM standards.
· Virtual delivery platforms (Adobe Connect, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
· Authoring tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Captivate, Vyond, Camtasia.
· Microsoft 365 Suite and basic Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (preferred).
