Apply process failure mode and effects analysis, design of experiments, and Design for Six Sigma to develop automation test processes and layout concepts and optimize them in transition to execution phases of the GM Global Vehicle Development Process. 10% travel to client sites nationwide. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, or related field of study. Five (5) years of experience as an Automation Project Engineer, Controls Lead, Senior Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Controls Engineer, or related occupation. Five years of experience with Programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to control and automate manufacturing processes; Design intuitive Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for operators to interact with automated systems; Electrical systems, including wiring, circuit design, and troubleshooting; Control systems theory and experience in designing and implementing control algorithms; Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems; and Communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP for seamless integration of automation components. Two years of experience with Industrial robots and integration into manufacturing systems; Smart manufacturing reporting and device level analytics; and Smart vision camera systems for error proofing and product quality controls.
