General Motors seeks a(n) Vision Controls Automation Engineer in Warren, MI.
Duties: Support the review manufacturing system requirements and design robust vision hardware and software applications. Support the execution General Motors GPS Vision standards for manufacturing equipment. Interface with other ME departments and regional automation execution teams to gather feedback and document manufacturing requirements with vision applications. Interface with Process, Controls teams, equipment suppliers and manufacturing integration suppliers. Ensure software and hardware application designs comply with GM Standards. Support the supervision of detailed designs by contractors when necessary. Specify software and equipment selection guidance, functional requirements, and integration methods. Support the forecast, track, and managing of vision cameras. Provide on-site and remote technical support for: plant software issues, new equipment startup, troubleshooting, reprogramming, diagnostic equipment usage, and interfacing with skilled trades personnel. Provide plant technical support with the development, planning and strategies for maintaining and replacing obsolete equipment. 40% travel to client sites nationwide. Telecommuting available 2 days a week. Must be able to report to local office.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study. Three (3) years of experience as a Vision Engineer, Engineer, or related occupation. Three years of experience with Software for Matrox and Cognex Cameras; Teach and set up of Vision Hardware Set Up; Machine Vision Lighting Techniques; and Camera Hardware Selections. Two years of experience with Project management; Design, build and start-up of manufacturing systems; Diagnostics and troubleshooting of vision camera related issues in production setting environments; and Design, set up, and debug of automation systems.
