Job Summary:
The Area Director manages all facets of an Area with accountability for customer growth and satisfaction, volume growth, ROA, EBIDTA, and employee satisfaction. Works closely with Field Managers to assure that employees are allocated to appropriate activities. Provides coaching for performance and establishes benchmark performance targets for improvement. Travels daily among Area service areas to coach employees and observe work activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures compliance with safety codes and policies including the servicing and repair of company vehicles; employees wearing proper PPE; customer deliveries and installations which are safe and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Communicates with all Field Managers daily.
• Plans, directs and manages staffing and development of employees by; effectively communicating company strategic goals, conducting effective and timely performance appraisals, coaching, ensuring all training for employees is completed
• Practices and reinforces superior customer service skills with all Area employees by sharing customer survey results with employees and developing action plans to increase customer service
• Ensures a professional appearance to our customers of AmeriGas equipment and personnel
• Communicates all available Marketing programs to all employees.
• Accountable for the successful execution of the Area's growth strategies and customer service. Including all sales and customer service training of their assigned Area.
• Successfully leads the Area in promoting profitable customer growth and retention.
• Reconciles the P&L for all locations within the Area.
• Monitors employee productivity through use of productivity benchmarks, the distribution system, and the service scheduling calendar, etc., in order to manage and optimize personnel and vehicle utilization and expenses
• Manages District parts and fittings inventories to reduce repair and maintenance expense
• Enforces credit and collections policies and procedures to reduce DSO's, improve aging results, and reduce write offs
• Proactive involvement in purchasing activities and expenditures.
• Ensures all daily, weekly and monthly work processes and reporting are done accurately and timely.
• Manages community relations activities including those involving regulatory agencies, officials and community leaders.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, write business correspondence, and write procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Demonstrated leadership , communication, coaching and development skills
• Sales experience preferred
Education and Experience Required:
• High school diploma required, college degree preferred
• Five - seven years in the propane industry preferred, including management responsibility
• Computer skills preferred
• Valid drivers license
• CDL desirable
• CTEP certification desirable
Working conditions:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hazardous or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and flammable materials. The employee will be working in both office and external work environments.
