Open Position: Director of Human Resources
Adrian Steel Company, in Adrian, Michigan, is a dynamic, growing company that designs, manufacturers, sells and installs cargo management solutions for commercial vehicles. Adrian Steel is seeking a Director of Human Resources.
The Human Resources Director will have direct oversight for Human Resources functions of Adrian Steel, including talent acquisition and retention, employee development and training, organizational development, employee relations and communications, compensation and benefits, performance management and human resources operations.
We are seeking an HR leader who knows how to collaborate with corporate leadership to create and implement effective HR plans that align human resources and business strategies to support company strategies, objectives and goals and can provide knowledgeable human resources support.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or closely related field and at least five years of progressive experience in Human Resources field. HR certification is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Provide senior HR expertise to support the President and company leadership to develop programs that inspire personnel around common goals, vision, and values, enable continued growth and position the company as a competitive employer in the market to attract and retain talented personnel.
- Assure company compliance with federal and state labor regulatory mandates.
- Provide leadership and direct Human Resources programs including on-boarding, career development, training coordination and delivery, performance management, employee retention, compensation and benefits, AA/EEO compliance, employee relations, employee complaints and sexual harassment.
- Ensure the effectiveness of compensation and benefits strategies, policies and practices.
- Execute effective administrative hiring and termination processes, lead HR administrative activities and supervise the HR team.
- Build and nurture strong working relationships with the subsidiary leadership and teams, including coaching the front line management teams.
Leadership Qualities:
- Personal accountability, integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality and good listening skills.
- Experience providing HR generalist support to multiple outlets within a multi-site organization. Working knowledge of applicable employment laws.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills. Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills for audiences at all levels.
- Ability to adapt to new situations and thrive in a changing environment.
- Ability to work effectively in both front-line and staff roles.
- Strong Microsoft office skills. Ability to quickly learn new systems and tools. Kronos experience helpful.
- Strong ability to collaborate with company leadership, including personnel at subsidiary locations.
