Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.
Unit Position Summary
The person will perform research experiments overseen by Principle Investigator but the individual must be a self-starter and able to work and learn independently. The person should have a good ability to troubleshoot problems. The work may include isolation of nucleic acids, PCR methodologies (e.g., qPCR, RT-PCR), cloning, culturing and maintenance of bacterial strains, protein purification; western, southern and northern blotting, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. The individual will handle various mouse strains and ticks. The procedures will include animal challenge by various routes, euthanasia, tissue harvest from alive or euthanized animals, collecting and crashing ticks, maintaining tick and/or mouse colonies, if necessary. The person should know how to use Geneious software and Prism. The person must have the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. The individual is expected to be detail oriented.
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in relevant field.
