Requirements:
- High School Diploma required.
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Four-years Healthcare Facilities/Maintenance Administration Experience; or Six-years Commercial Building Facilities/Maintenance Experience
- Four-years Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Boiler Experience.
- MECH Senior Health Care Mechanic Certification or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain certification within 30 months of employment.
- Valid Boiler Operator’s License through a recognized independent licensing entity, municipality, state, or federal agency or have the required experience and knowledge and obtain certification within 2 Years of employment.
- Able to read and understand plans and specifications, read, and write detailed instructions.
- Able to use a personal computer to manage the CMMS, look up information on the UMH-West network and the Internet, communicate via email, prepare documents and spreadsheets, and navigate building automation system software.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Advanced familiarity and understanding of buildings, building systems, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Perform advanced electrical maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation with familiarity of the Michigan Electric Code (adopted NEC)
- Perform advanced plumbing maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation with familiarity of the Michigan Plumbing Code (adopted IPC)
- Perform advanced level heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation with familiarity of the Michigan Mechanical Code (adopted IMC)
- Perform advanced equipment repair.
- Able to work 40 hours a week plus extended work hours when required; willing and able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to support the department and when emergency repair work arises, shift coverage is needed, or the work requires special scheduling.
- Willing to develop a high level of skill and knowledge in all areas of health care facility maintenance and stay abreast of current technological issues to make the best positive contribution to patient care.
