DHC MI Holdings LLC d/b/a Grand Hotel, Bicycle Street Inn, and Mackinac Island Bike Shop, located in Mackinac Island, MI, seeks twenty-seven (27) full-time, temporary Bartenders who will be responsible for mixing and serving drinks to guests, serving food, cleaning glasses and bar equipment, setting up and breaking down bars for events and banquets, and ensuring that the bar and work areas are clean and well-stocked.
Will report directly to the Lounge Manager, Restaurant Manager and/or (Assistant) Banquet Director at Grand Hotel or the Food & Beverage Supervisor or Restaurant Manager at Bicycle Street Inn.
Six (6) months of bartending experience in a fine-dining or high-volume environment at a high-end restaurant, resort, or private club required.
All worksites located in Mackinac Island, Michigan. Occasional travel may be required between worksites; however, all worksites are within walking distance of each other.
Daily transportation to and from worksite is provided for workers living in St. Ignace employee housing.
On-the-job training is provided.
For banquet bartending work: Wage: $21.10 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Overtime is available at $31.65 per hour.
For bartending work in main dining room and terrace room: Commissioned position with guaranteed wage of $21.10 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Overtime is available and guaranteed at $31.65 per hour. Employer will guarantee wage in any given workweek when total compensation (including commission and/or tips) does not meet prevailing wage rate or overtime wage rate.
For all other bartending work (not banquet, main dining room, or terrace room): Tipped position with guaranteed wage of $21.10 per hour, paid bi-weekly. Overtime is available and guaranteed at $31.65 per hour. Employer will guarantee wage in any given workweek when total compensation (including tips and/or service charges) does not meet prevailing wage rate or overtime wage rate.
Employees may also be eligible for additional compensation in the form of a discretionary bonus or incentive.
Schedule: 40 hours per week. Work schedule can vary and can include evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday. Example shifts: 10:00AM – 6:00PM, 3:00PM – 11:00PM, or 5:00PM – 1:00AM. Shift hours may vary.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due.
Optional dormitory-style, shared housing is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis for workers who are relocating to begin employment. Cost of housing, which includes meals and utilities, if accepted, is $136.50 per week. If used, total cost of housing will be deducted from paycheck. A $250.00 security deposit is required to be deducted from paycheck in equal $50.00 installments from employee’s first five (5) paychecks. Deposit may be returned to the employee based on the condition of the housing, at the employer’s sole discretion, at the end of the employment period. An optional meal plan is also available to workers who do not live in housing. If elected, meals costs of $9.50 per day will be deducted from paycheck.
Additional, optional benefits may be offered to worker, for worker’s sole benefit, including but not limited to health, vision, dental, life, and pet insurance, 401k plan, optional charitable donations, shuttle transportation, on-property purchases (including voluntary Shoes for Crews purchases), and short-term and long-term disability. If voluntarily elected by worker, employee costs/contributions for benefits will be deducted from paycheck.
In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable inbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek. The employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable outbound transportation and subsistence costs during the last workweek. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by government (excluding passport fees).
