Job Title: Ford PLC/HMI Designer

Reports To: Software Engineering Supervisor
Pay Rate: $35-$40 / hour
Summary
The Ford PLC/HMI Designer works as part of a team of engineers and consultants on the design and implementation of Ford's GVOSS software architecture. This role is responsible for reviewing and creating PLC/HMI programs, verifying hardware design, and supporting the commissioning team in resolving software errors or deficiencies.
The ideal candidate will have prior Ford body-in-white controls experience, be proficient in Ford's PLC/HMI design and comparison tools, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to meet demanding project requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Proficient with Allen-Bradley PLCs (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000).

Demonstrate a strong understanding of Ford PLC/HMI standards and tools.

Apply basic knowledge of electrical and pneumatic control systems.

Read, comprehend, and implement customer-specific standards related to controls design.

Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets.

Commission and debug automation systems.

Apply common-sense problem solving to written, oral, or diagram-based instructions.

Collaborate with Mechanical Design, shop trades, and customers.

Assist in monitoring project delivery dates, changes, and standards for both in-house and outsourced designs.

Ensure engineering compliance with customer specifications and company awareness.

Provide software support to hardware designers, follow-up teams, and project management.

Develop standardized software tools and designs under the direction of the Software Engineering Supervisor.

Use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with proficiency.

Follow safety and environmental regulations, reporting any concerns as needed.

Adhere to the company's Quality System and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Work effectively within Windows operating systems and related software.
