Job Summary: Under direction of the band director, the paraprofessional provides instructional support in small groups, reinforcing skills like scales and rhythms, managing instruments and inventory. supervising students during rehearsals and events. They act as a supportive link, ensuring students practice fundamentals, maintain equipment, and stay engaged, working under the director's guidance to create a positive learning environment for all band members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist band director during the lesson by finishing assignment instructions.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students needing additional support in ELA and Math.
- Observe and document student performance and progress during intervention sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress reports, and other data as required.
- Provide feedback to teachers and intervention specialists on student progress and areas needing further support.
- Help maintain a safe and organized learning environment by implementing positive behavior support strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, intervention specialists, and other school staff to develop and implement effective intervention strategies.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions to stay informed about best practices in intervention support.
- Perform clerical tasks related to intervention programs, such as preparing reports, entering data, and organizing files.
- Assist with the administration of assessments and testing as required.
- Ensure confidentiality of all student information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- The equivalent of 2 years of college (60 semester credits) or an Associate’s degree or higher OR the successful completion of the MDE approved Paraprofessional standards test (ETS).
- Experience working with children.
- Demonstrated abilities in the area of interpersonal communication.
- A high degree of patience, ability and willingness to learn new skills and take direction.
