Job Description: Schulte Boutique and Lifestyle, LLC seeks to fill twelve (12) temporary, full-time seasonal housekeeping staff from 04/01/2026 to 11/03/2026 at 8593 Cudahy Circle, Mackinac Island, MI 49757 to ensure that rooms and public areas are cleaned and sanitized to company-mandated standards; ensures that rooms have clean linen, bedding and towels; retrieve dirty linens from housekeeping; separate linens by type and pre-treats stains; ensure dirty linens are properly washed and dried; fold and stack clean linen on linen carts; clean and maintain all hotel public areas, including restrooms, hallways, stairwells, etc. to meet quality standards; when necessary, strip guest rooms of linen and trash; clean bathrooms, dust furniture and pictures, vacuum, sweep and mop floors; empty carts of soiled linen and disposes trash; remove spots, insects and debris, polish fixtures and clean ashtrays; deliver items to rooms upon request and assists in cleaning guest rooms as needed; understand and follow all safety and security procedures as mandated by the hotel; maintain knowledge of hotel property, hotel staff, hotel services, hotel service hours of operation, and hotel surroundings (i.e. mall, restaurants); ensure that rooms are stocked with soap, tissues, drinking glasses, etc.; identify items that guests have left behind and report items utilizing hotel’s lost and found procedures. Ensure proper trash removal and disposal in accordance with sanitation standards, and assist with putting away daily orders and organizing storage areas as needed.
The hotel consists of three distinct yet harmonious features, the Mansion, Summer House, and Private Cottages. It also contains the beautiful North Lawn, the Wellness Center, a brand new 3,000-square foot Event Center.
The hotel public areas include:
- The hotel lobby, the entrance of the hotel located in the Mansion where guests are welcomed and come to check in and check out.
- Main Dining room where the hotel offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
- Public restrooms in the hotel including one (1) restroom in the hotel lobby and two (2) restrooms located on the back lanai (the hotel’s roofed, open-sided patio area), and three (3) bathrooms/changing areas in the Wellness Center.
- Public sitting areas, which include public seating area located adjacent to the hotel lobby and public seating area on the back lanai.
- The hotel’s Event Center, a 3,000-square-foot event venue with a max capacity of 200 people located in the Mansion.
- The hotel’s Wellness Center located next to the Event Center. Wellness Center is 600-square-foot with 24-hour access for guests.
- The hotel’s stairwells at the Mansion, Summer House and Wellness Center.
The public areas also include three (3) outdoor walkways which are located between the Mansion and Summer House, the Mansion and the Event Center, and between the Event Center and the Wellness Center with approximately 2-minute walk between each.
The cleaning and maintenance duties for these public areas include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, scrubbing, picking up trash and litter, striping & waxing floors, and shampooing carpets to ensure the cleanliness of the public areas and outdoor walkways.
To do so, the housekeeping staff will vacuum, dust, mop, sanitize, rag these areas. The tools and products which the housekeeping staff will use include dust cloths, vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, mops, all-purpose surface cleaners, bathroom cleaners, glass cleaners, floor clean/care products, floor finish and waxing solutions, floor buffers, detergents along with personal protective equipment such as gloves, non-slip shoes, goggles, coats, as needed.
Requirements: No minimum education or prior work experience is required.
Special Requirements: Ability to communicate effectively; prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. On the job training is provided.
Work Schedule: Employer offers at least 40 hours of work per week. Work may be performed on any day of the week from Monday through Sunday with two shifts available (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.).
Wage: $16.37/hour. Overtime hours may be available based on business needs at a rate of $24.56/hour.
Single Work Week Guarantee and Frequency of Pay: Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages use. Workers will be paid biweekly.
On the Job Training: On the Job Training is provided.
Deductions from Pay: Employer will make all deductions from the Worker's paycheck required by Federal, State, or Local Laws. Subsidized on site lodging is offered at a rate of $50 per week. If utilized, Employer will deduct for the cost of lodging at the rate of $50 per week.
Board, Lodging, or other Facilities: Subsidized on site lodging is offered at a rate of $50 per week. If utilized, Employer will deduct for the cost of lodging at the rate of $50 per week.
Transportation and subsistence: If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, the employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker’s voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily meals will be provided at a rate of at least $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
Daily Transportation to and from Worksite: Not provided. Subsidized on site housing is within walking distance of the worksite. Public transportation is also available in Mackinac Island.
Visa Related Expense: Workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker.
Tools, Supplies, and Equipment: Employer will provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
Three Fourths Guarantee: The employer will offer employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays of each 12-week period as required by 20 CFR § 655.20(f).
Earned Sick Time Act: In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
