General Summary:
Under the supervision of the director of juvenile services/probate court administrator, with direct oversight by the juvenile register, utilizes and maintains electronic recording equipment to record referee hearings. Prepares logs of court proceedings while recording all court activity, prepares and files official verbatim transcripts of requested court proceedings. enters data into the computer system and assists with clerical support tasks of the Juvenile Division.
Employment Qualifications:
Education: High school graduation or equivalent with some advanced college level coursework in legal secretarial training, including coursework in legal terminology preferred.
Experience: one year of secretarial work in a court or legal setting.
Other requirements:
Must be certified or have the ability to become certified as an Electronic Court Recorder by the Michigan Supreme Court within one (1) year of employment. Must complete annual training as scheduled by the court and the County of Monroe. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check included by not limited to state/national criminal history check, DHHS central registry check and professional references.
