Our Plymouth, MI customer is seeking (2) experienced HMI System Design, Intelligent Vehicle Engineers (1 Senior Level and 1 Intermediate Level) for a direct hire at a very competitive, high 5 to low/mid/high 6 figure salary (depending on experience).
Will consider TN Visa's, and H1B transfers as long as they have a minimum of 3 years' of hands-on experience (preferably automotive OEM; not university/college level knowledge); may consider OPT candidates with REAL WORLD experience. Purpose: This is a research and development position with a OEM within their Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) Group.
The focus of this individual will be development of new HMI strategies to assist their move towards a more connected and automated driving experience. They are seeking a creative individual who has the ability to conceive, design, prototype, demonstrate and then help move ideas into production. This role will require an in-depth knowledge of human factors and a willingness to research and develop these technologies.
This position offers the opportunity to join a group in its formative stages and to participate in establishing the direction of the group. The role will involve all levels of product development from participating in strategic planning for the group, supplier / partner selection, initial concept creation and stages of development through to production launch. It will involve interfacing with a variety of groups including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, as well as suppliers / technical partners.
Responsibilities (but not limited to the following):
- Working to create simple, consistent and stimulating user experiences in vehicle across a range of devices and platforms
- Participate in strategic roadmap development for the group.
- Assist in system architecture and design for ADAS systems including sensors, HMI, actuators and ECUs.
- Determine software requirements, current and future for HMI technologies.
- Develop Driver Information and Driver Assistance HMI Functions.
- Develop Interface HMI specification to system specifications.
- Implementation of interactive HMI models.
- Interface with a variety of groups including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and sales.
- Work with development partners to create HMI hardware.
- Support the development of test instrumentation or support hardware for product development purposes as well for mass production.
- Participate in design and code reviews.
- Investigate and evaluate new technology.
- Assist in selecting software development tools.
Desired Requirements:
- Advanced Degree or commensurate experience.
- 5 years’ experience in automotive HMI Modeling/Design (Human Machine Interface) is required.
- The candidate should have experience with one or more Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) technologies (Radar, Camera, Ultrasonic, LiDAR, etc.). Strong V2X (Vehicle to Target Communications)/ DSRC (Dedicated Short Range Communications) experience is highly desired.
- Knowledge and experience of infotainment systems and appreciation of general ''online'' industry trends and directions.
- Experience in telematics industry.
- Significant advanced knowledge of Ergonomics, driver distraction issues
- Knowledge of multimedia systems, current consumer technology trends.
- Ability to interpret circuit schematics.
- Strong “hands-on" electrical and software testing experience.
- Experience in debugging new hardware. Experience with Visio and Visual Studio Software.
- Experience with Adobe Tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, or After Effects.
- Experience with low-level software development CAN, SPI, USB etc.
- Experience with Model Based Design using Matlab Simulink/Stateflow
- Experience with dSpace Software: RTI Toolsets, ControlDesk, Targetlink, ASM and Modeldesk.
- Experience with dSpace Hardware MicroAutoboxII
- Experience with Telematics and Head Unit design is a plus
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, Network programming.
- C/C Experience.
- Microsoft Office.
- Wants auto enthusiasts must love cars and fixing them.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (about 2x p/year to China for 2 weeks at a time); less than 20%.
- Must be able to work off-hours to have conferences with China HQ.
