Position Title: Quality Improvement Specialist

General Summary of Position
Reporting to the Great Start to Quality Program Director, this position is responsible for providing support services to licensed and unlicensed childcare providers within the Great Start to Quality Eastern Resource Center Region (Arenac, Bay, Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Saginaw, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Tuscola Counties). This position will focus on Genesee County.
Essential Job Responsibilities

Conduct outreach to programs/providers not yet engaged in MiRegistry and encourage participation in Great Start to Quality, increasing statewide participation.

Conduct on-site visits with programs/providers to build knowledge and understanding of Great Start to Quality.

Provide on-site technical assistance within established parameters to support providers in the Great Start to Quality process.

Provide initial support to providers developing a Quality Improvement Plan, when applicable.

Conduct Licensed-Exempt Provider Preservice Training with fidelity (train-the-trainer provided upon hire).

Track technical assistance in the Work Life Systems daily to support continuous quality improvement.

Communicate regularly with the Resource Center Director regarding needs for on-site technical assistance.

Promote public awareness of quality improvement services and Great Start to Quality through presentations to programs/providers to increase participation region-wide.

Connect programs to quality improvement resources and, where applicable, to Quality Improvement Coaches.

Assist families contacting the Resource Center to navigate greatstarttoquality.org and/or support those without technology access.

Maintain working knowledge of Great Start to Quality, MiRegistry, and greatstarttoquality.org.

Refer families eligible for GSRP to local intermediate school districts using MiLEAP-provided contact lists.

Assist providers with updating their Great Start to Quality profile, MiRegistry Organizational and personal profiles, and participation information through phone, on-site, Zoom, and email support.

Post all contract-funded professional development and training opportunities on MiRegistry.

Refer providers to workforce development opportunities posted on MiRegistry.

Support providers in registering for training and assist those lacking access to technology.

Track attendance and collect participant evaluations for posted trainings using MiRegistry.

Participate in at least 90% of required technical assistance and learning community sessions to ensure consistency and fidelity to the Great Start to Quality Model.
Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree with a minimum of two years of early childhood education experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Working knowledge of the CDA credential and process.

Familiarity with Developmentally Appropriate Practices.

Experience with early learning programs and family/group homes.

Effective communication techniques including active listening, use of common language, jargon explanation, and reflective listening.

Sensitivity to the needs of diverse cultural groups.

Commitment to professional growth through continuing education, self-reflection, and learning community participation.

Strong time management and ability to contribute to a team environment.

Accurate and timely data entry and collection.

Ability to collaborate with other community quality support services to expand provider resources.

Competent use of technology and software to perform assigned duties.
