JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
PAY RANGE: $54,412.80 - $60,153.60 (MP06)

General Summary:
Under the immediate direction of the Deputy Probate Court Administrator and Court Administrator, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the Deputy Court Administrator with administrative and technical functions.
Qualifications:
• Education: bachelor’s degree preferred; or an associate degree with 3-5 years of court related experience.
• Experience: Knowledge of the juvenile court system & mental health code.
• Court recorder certificate preferred; or can become certified as a court recorder within one year from date of employment.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License
Administrative Functions:
1. Entry of court bills on a weekly basis for payment through the County Treasurer.
2. Responsible for general facilities management including scheduling equipment repair, and purchasing of office supplies.
3. Backup to the Deputy Court Administrator for purposes of voucher preparation and payments, MISACWIS entry, etc.
4. Backup to the Deputy Court Administrator for purposes of processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis for both technical and professional staff.
5. Backup to the Deputy Court Administrator for purposes of submitting month end reporting to State of Michigan and other agencies.
6. All other duties as assigned.
Technical Functions:
7. Monitors mental health filings through collaboration with Bay Arenac Behavioral Health, McLaren Bay Region and statewide Community Mental Health.
8. Processes filings for developmentally disabled individuals in preparation for hearings.
9. Maintains judicial assignments for out of county courtesy hearings, marriages, and mental health rotations.
10. Provides backup for dependent neglect proceedings. Includes computer entries and subsequent filings. Schedules pre-trial conferences, formal hearings, review hearings and maintains paperwork for the dependent neglect cases.
11. May assist in court room as court bailiff or jury clerk for delinquency and dependent neglect proceedings.
12. Provides back-up as a recorder in the Court room when called upon to record hearings.
13. Provides transcripts of hearings on appeal or as requested by attorneys.
14. May perform a variety of other court-related functions as directed by the Deputy Court Administrator.
15. All other duties as assigned.

• Ability to sit most of the time and being mobile or stand for brief periods of time.
