Description
Job Summary: The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining electrical systems and components to required specifications, focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for pontoon boats, including wiring harnesses, lighting, navigation, entertainment, and auxiliary systems.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
- Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to integrate electrical systems into new boat models.
- Support production by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting issues, and improving installation processes.
- Test, inspect, and validate electrical systems to ensure compliance with ABYC (American Boat & Yacht Council) and USCG regulations.
- Research and recommend components, materials, and suppliers to improve performance, cost, and durability.
- Drive continuous improvement projects related to electrical design, safety, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Train production staff on proper installation methods, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Stay current with marine electrical trends, technologies, and compliance requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in electrical engineering or a related role.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MATLAB, or other design and simulation tools.
- Proficiency in CAD software and electrical design tools.
- Strong understanding of ABYC E-11 MARINE electrical systems, circuit design, and power distribution.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications required.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements and Environment:
- Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 25 lbs. without assistance.
- Involves standing, squatting, bending, twisting and sitting for long periods as required.
- Involves prolonged use of computer keyboard and monitor.
