Job Summary
The Project Engineer at Ferndale Electric is an entry-level project management role designed to support multiple Project Managers with essential project coordination and documentation tasks. This position focuses on learning and executing processes unique to electrical contracting and Ferndale Electric, including AutoCad, submittals, RFIs, drawing control, permitting, and closeout documentation. The Project Engineer gains exposure to multiple projects, general contractors, and job sites, building a foundation for advancement into more senior project management positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Submittal and RFI Management
- Prepare, process, and track submittals, transmittals, and RFIs as directed by Project Managers.
- Ensure timely communication and distribution of responses to field teams and other stakeholders.
- Help create AutoCAD documentation.
- Drawing and Document Control
- Maintain current drawing sets, ensuring superseded drawings are removed from circulation.
- Print and distribute project drawings and panel schedules per Project Manager
- Field Labor Material Requisitions (FLMRs)
- Receive and review daily FLMRs for added work or changes to contract
- Communication required follow-up or documentation needs to the Project Manager.
- Closeout Package Support
- Assist with compiling as-built drawings, warranty documents, and final deliverables.
- Organize and submit complete closeout packages to
- Permit and Inspection Coordination
- Complete permit applications based on provided information and submit to appropriate agencies.
- Coordinate inspection schedules with Project Managers and field staff.
- Project Administration
- Manage and organize ancillary project documents such as addenda and
- Maintain organized project files in accordance with Ferndale Electric's document control standards.
- Communication and Coordination
- Communicate professionally with clients, engineers, general contractors, and internal teams as directed.
- Work with multiple Project Managers to support various projects
- Learning and Development
- Participate in mentorship and training programs to build project management
- Develop familiarity with Ferndale Electric's procedures, systems, and software platforms
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience
considered.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to follow established processes and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management software.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Experience Requirements
• Internship or prior exposure to construction or electrical contracting preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is a plus.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
• Occasional travel to project sites, including exposure to construction environments.
