Job Summary

The Assistant Warehouse Manager at Ferndale Electric supports the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring organization, accurate tool tracking, and efficient staging of materials and equipment. This position assists with inventory control, tool maintenance, shipping and receiving, and field support services. The Assistant Warehouse Manager works closely with the Warehouse Manager and other departments to meet field demand and uphold Ferndale’s operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tool and Equipment Control

• Assist in scanning tools in and out of the warehouse using the company’s tool tracking software.
• Ensure tools are returned complete and functional; coordinate repairs and component replacements with the Warehouse Manager.
• Support labeling, painting, barcoding, and maintaining organization of all tools and equipment.

2. Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory

• Receive incoming materials, verify packing slips, and stage items for field delivery or storage.
• Organize and maintain jobsite material areas and warehouse inventory in alignment with records.
• Notify Project Managers or Purchasing of incoming freight deliveries.

3. Field Delivery and Support

• Assist with routing and preparing daily material and tool deliveries to job sites.
• Support the Warehouse Manager with coordinating drivers and vehicle use as needed. When necessary, drive and make deliveries to field locations.
• Maintain loading efficiency and accuracy in delivery documentation.

4. Warehouse Organization and Maintenance

• Keep warehouse and tool room clean and orderly, ensuring safe and efficient layout.
• Support ongoing cleanup initiatives and seasonal tasks such as snow removal, if required.
• Assist with upkeep of warehouse tools, vehicles, and small equipment.

5. Communication and Team Support

• Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to prioritize and complete daily responsibilities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Foremen, and Purchasing on tool/material needs.
• Alert leadership to missing tools, incorrect deliveries, or operational issues as they arise.

Qualifications and Skills

• Prior experience in warehouse operations, tool handling, or electrical construction preferred.
• Familiarity with tool tracking software and inventory systems is a plus.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic mechanical or tool repair skills are desirable.
• Willingness to assist with physical tasks such as snow removal, cleaning, and lifting materials. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
• Effective communication and time management skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
