Job Summary
The Warehouse Manager at Ferndale Electric is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the warehouse, ensuring efficient tool tracking, inventory control, shipping and receiving, and support for field and project operations. This role is critical in maintaining the organization of materials, small tools, and equipment necessary for successful project execution. The Warehouse Manager will supervise warehouse staff, coordinate with project managers and foremen, and ensure compliance with Ferndale standards for accuracy, cleanliness, and responsiveness.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Organization and Oversight
- Maintain the overall cleanliness, organization, and operational order of the warehouse and tool room.
- Ensure tools and equipment are scanned and logged accurately when checked in and out for jobs.
- Manage the barcoding, numbering, painting, and labeling of all tools and equipment.
- Oversee the storage and staging of job site material in the warehouse, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
2. Tool Control and Maintenance
- Inspect returned tools for operational condition and completeness before re-shelving.
- Notify foremen of missing components and confirm items were not left onsite.
- Coordinate small tool repairs and communicate major tool or equipment repair needs to the Superintendent.
- Maintain accurate digital tool records using inventory management software (e.g., ToolWatch).
- Update tool replacement costs and documentation for insurance purposes as requested.
3. Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments including UPS, air freight, and ground deliveries.
- Notify Purchasing and Project Managers of incoming materials and freight deliveries.
- Handle all damaged or nonconforming material and coordinate returns with Purchasing.
- Route drivers for daily field deliveries and pickups efficiently.
4. Field and Project Support
- Coordinate tool, equipment, and material deliveries with Project Managers and Foremen.
- Fill internal material orders as needed and maintain clear communication with field staff.
- Notify the Superintendent of any tools missing during job clean-outs or job completion.
- Assist in planning warehouse logistics to meet high-priority job demands.
5. Staff Supervision and Safety
- Provide direction to warehouse staff and oversee daily responsibilities.
- Support a safe and compliant warehouse environment consistent with Ferndale safety policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical construction or warehouse operations within a construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical tools, equipment, and material handling practices.
- Proficiency with inventory management software such as ToolWatch.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and direct a small team.
- Valid driver’s license required.
